Bahamas

Spanning 750 miles and with some 700 tropical islands, the Bahamas offers a tropical adventure that can be as relaxing or high octane as you want. Whether you choose to bask on stunning beaches, indulge in the glamour of Paradise Island, sail to the dreamy Out Islands or swim with dolphins, simply sip a Bahama Mama and contemplate your next move. Formerly home to the legendary Blackbeard, the capital city, Nassau, on the island of New Providence, is full of pastel pink shops, Georgian architecture, tree-lined streets and fish fry shacks. Most of our featured resorts are located on New Providence but we can arrange day trips or overnight stays on many of the smaller Out Islands.

Whichever island you choose, watersports enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with bone fishing, sailing, snorkelling and diving all popular pastimes here. You’ll find colourful coral reefs just offshore and for more adventurous scuba divers, the Bahamas is home to some of the most challenging cave and wreck diving on the planet.

Getting There

There are regular non-stop flights from the UK to Nassau, or daily departures via Miami. Connecting flights to the Out Islands are available from Nassau and Miami. Flying time from Heathrow to Nassau is 10 hrs 15 minutes.

British Airways operates non-stop departures from Heathrow to Nassau 5 times a week.

Note: All our inclusive holiday prices are based on British Airways World Traveller flights to Nassau with onward connections (where required) with Bahamas Air to Great Exuma and North Eleuthera.

4 hours behind GMT and 5 hours behind BST.

Currency

Bahamian dollar. Major credit cards are widely accepted on the main islands in both shops and hotels. The US dollar is pegged to the Bahamian dollar and is widely accepted.

Useful Information

A full British passport is required for the Bahamas and it should be valid for 6 months after the return date of your holiday. Visas are not required for British citizens. No special health documentation is necessary for residents of the UK who have not recently visited parts of the world where cholera or yellow fever is a problem.
