One of the unique charms of the Caribbean is that it is made up of an elongated crescent of islands, from single island countries such as Barbados and Saint Lucia to jewelled chains of tiny islands and cays such as The Grenadines and British Virgin Islands. The very best way to explore the region is by boat, and we have selected for you our favourite choices. This is perhaps one of the most interesting holiday options and we are frequently asked the same questions. Can we try a sailing holiday for just a few days?
We recommend one of the ‘Sailaway’ packages which allows you to stay in one of our luxury hotels with just a couple of nights on board the resort’s own luxury yacht. Please ask one of our travel advisers about Young Island for more information.

Can we explore the Caribbean and visit some smaller islands without being ‘cruisers’?
We recommend a voyage on board Royal Clipper. This magnificent tall ship combines the charm of an intimate resort with the romance and adventure of being under sail – and she is able to visit the smaller Caribbean islands which are inaccessible to the bigger ships.

We want a sailing holiday but we want to be pampered too – is that possible?
Crewed yacht charters are perfect for those seeking a unique combination of attentive service, superb cuisine, island-hopping and soft adventure. No sailing experience is required although you are welcome to participate in the sailing if you wish. The professional crew consists of a captain and cook plus additional crew on larger yachts.

Will we be comfortable on board a yacht?
Caribtours offers a selection of over 50 luxurious yachts and catamarans for you to choose from; each varies in size, design and layout and has been hand-picked to offer comfortable and spacious cabins and generally a private bathroom en suite.

How much sailing will we do each day?
Life on board is entirely at your own pace; the crew will discuss your own preferences in terms of shore visits, hours at sea and so forth. Many of the yachts carry excellent watersports equipment several of which include scuba diving gear.

Can we take the children with us?
Provided your children can swim and enjoy being on and around the water, this could be the perfect family holiday. Some of our yachts and their crew are particularly well-disposed towards children.

Do any of us need any sailing experience or qualifications?
No is the simple answer. Whether you’re an experienced yachtsman or a complete novice, this is the ideal way to discover the jewels of the Caribbean.

Is the food good?
Our yachts are renowned for their outstanding and plentiful food, all of which is prepared for you by the crew; a pre-departure preference form gives you the opportunity to indicate some of your favourite dishes and drinks. Our prices include all meals.

Some of us are qualified yachtsmen – can we charter a yacht without a crew?
We regret that Caribtours does not offer bareboat yacht charters; however, the yacht charters we work with are more than happy to let guests get involved in sailing.
