View Larger Map Let one of our specialists create your dream holiday at Jungle Bay Resort & Spa. Call 020 3131 0169 The creation of Jungle Bay was an eight year labour of love for owner, Samuel Raphael. Hand-crafted from local materials, the resort consists of 35 tropical hardwood cottages perched on stilts, overlooking a rocky beach and surrounded by 55 acres of pristine tropical rainforest. The focus here is on exploring and enjoying your natural surroundings and the resort offers an excellent programme of nature-based activities and excursions, all included in the price. Daily yoga and spa treatments will soothe aching muscles, or relax in Jungle Bay's unique volcanic stone swimming pool. Location On Dominica's unspoiled south east coast, approximately 45 minutes from the capital, Roseau, and 90 minutes from Melville Hall Airport. Accommodation The 35 delightful wooden cottages are scattered across a hillside, tucked away beneath the tropical foliage. Hand-crafted, the cottages have a rustic feel but each is elegantly decorated with furnishings that have been designed and made locally. All feature a king size or two double beds, ceiling fan, mini fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, bathroom with outdoor shower and a balcony with a hammock and views of Dominica's Atlantic coast. Cottages are not air-conditioned but have been designed to take full advantage of the coastal breeze. Facilities The open air Jungle Pavilion serves tasty, wholesome meals with a particular emphasis on fresh seafood, chicken and vegetarian dishes prepared in a Caribbean style and using locally grown produce. The resort's unique volcanic stone swimming pool is surrounded by spacious sun decks overlooking the ocean. There is also a hiking trail, two large yoga studios and a comfortable lounge with DVD player, pool table, table tennis and board games. The delightful Spa du Soleil is set high on the hillside with five semi open air treatment rooms boasting fabulous ocean views. Accessed via a wooden staircase, the beach bar and ocean terrace is the perfect place to relax in a hammock and watch the waves break on the rocky beach. A comprehensive programme of daily activities and excursions is complimentary for all guests and caters to all fitness levels; activities include waterfall hikes, visits to local villages, nature walks, ocean kayaking and snorkelling trips. Diving can be arranged at an additional cost. Special Information Cottages are accessed by a series of natural footpaths and stone staircases - a moderate level of fitness is therefore required. The sea here is often rough and there are strong currents, swimming is strongly discouraged. The hotel will be closed between 1 - 30 September. Making A Difference Winner of multiple awards for its commitment to responsible tourism and eco-friendly design, Jungle Bay's community work ranges from employing and re-training local people following the decline of the island's banana trade, to funding literacy projects for local children.
• Totally committed to environmental conservation and sustainable tourism, Jungle Bay was created with the minimum disruption to its natural surroundings and the resort is heavily involved with many local community projects - the staff here even donate 10% of their tips to social and environmental causes on the island • We love the swimming pool at Jungle Bay - the volcanic stone absorbs heat during the day so you'll find it's lovely and warm in the afternoon, perfect for a soothing dip after a long hike • Night time is very special here - against the backdrop of a moonlit jungle, the sound of the forest and the crashing Atlantic surf creates a romantic, almost surreal ambiance • Join one of the hotel’s excellent Whale and Dolphin Safaris - you’ll have a good chance of spotting some of the many different species that frequent the waters around Dominica All-Inclusive features... • All meals and non-alcoholic drinks • Daily hikes, activities and excursions • Daily 30 minute spa treatment • Morning yoga classes
