Saint Lucia

With its romantic mountain scenery and magical resorts, it’s little wonder that this picturesque island is such a favourite amongst honeymooners.

There’s a real spirit of romance about Saint Lucia. Wherever you go, there’s the beautiful backdrop of tropical mountain scenery, including the famous towering Pitons. Then there are fabulous beaches, stunning coral reefs (especially around Soufrière) and over 18,000 acres of rainforest, banana and coconut plantations waiting for you to explore. And set amidst this beauty are fantastic luxury hotels and resorts where the atmosphere is laid back and friendly and the service always comes with a smile. It’s best to talk to us about the kind of Caribbean holiday you’re looking for as Saint Lucia can be as active or as relaxing as you like.

Out and About
Scenic helicopter tour
Take a helicopter transfer to your hotel for an unforgettable arrival experience, or enjoy a 30 minute scenic island tour. You’ll take in all the sights from the majestic Pitons and the dense vegetation of the rainforest, to the picturesque bays and beaches along the Caribbean coastline and the sleepy fishing villages of the more rugged Atlantic coast.

Day cruise to Soufrière
This relaxing day cruise is a great way to see Saint Lucia’s highlights. Sail to Soufrière to see the Pitons and the drive-in volcano before heading to Morne Coubaril Estate where you’ll learn about the island’s history and culture. Before lunch, enjoy a stroll around the estate, or if you fancy something a bit different, try out the zip lining nearby! Once back on board you’ll sail up the coast allowing time to swim and snorkel, stopping en-route in Marigot Bay, before heading back to port.

Whale and dolphin watching
Look out for the large pods of spinning and spotted dolphins as well as the more elusive pilot, sperm and orca whales. Half day boat trips leave early in the morning and carry state-of-the-art equipment to maximise your chances of spotting these majestic creatures.

Anse La Raye fish fry
Enjoy the party atmosphere every Friday night at Anse La Raye’s fish fry. Here the locals cook fresh fish, lobster, crab cakes, conch, shrimp and octopus stew, which you can buy from stalls lining the waterfront street. There’s lots of music and dancing and the rum punch is always flowing!

Pigeon Island
If you’re not up for climbing the Pitons, try an easy hike to the top of historic Fort Rodney on Pigeon Island. The views of Rodney Bay and Martinique are stunning and you’ll also get to learn a bit about the history of Saint Lucia too.

Food and Drink
When it comes to restaurants, most people rave about Dasheene at Ladera, both for its cuisine and stunning location. The same can be said of the Coal Pot in Vigie Cove, with its local crab back speciality. We can also recommend Charthouse and Buzz in Rodney Bay for excellent steak and seafood, the Cliff at Cap Maison and the stylish TAO at The BodyHoliday.

Getting There
Flying time from the UK is approximately 8 hrs 45 minutes.

British Airways Daily departures from Gatwick until March; departures 6 times a week from April.
Virgin Atlantic Departures from Gatwick 3 times a week.
