Surrounded by one of the world's longest coral reefs, this little known but increasingly popular British Crown Colony is ideal for those seeking a quiet relaxing holiday. Paul has visited Turks & Caicos on a number of occasions and is consistently impressed by the stunning beaches and the friendly local people. There is also a wonderful golf course.
The name 'Turks' is derived from the indigenous Turk's Head 'fez' cactus and the name 'Caicos' is a Lucayan term meaning "string of islands." The national music is known as Ripsaw or 'rake 'n' scrape' – a metal scraper is raked over the teeth of a handsaw as the blade is bent at the same time!
