OUR Jamaica SPECIALIST
"I love the atmosphere at Jamaica Inn, as soon as you step inside the doors, you are hit by this really peaceful feeling. The hotel’s got a lovely spa and tennis courts, but the main attraction is the beach, with waters that are perfect for snorkelling. They offer water sports such as paddle boarding and canoeing, but everything is kept very low key and quiet to maintain the calm atmosphere.
The building itself is beautiful, it’s around 50 years old and low-rise so it fits in with its surroundings. It’s shaped like a horseshoe, and sits around a lovely bay so it's very private and secluded. If you’re lucky enough, you might get to stay in one of the private cottages. They are set up the hill on a bluff, and have their own swimming pools with staircases down the cliffs to these private coves, which are really amazing. If you can, that’s the place to stay!
There’s a lot to do nearby, the hotel is set just on the edge of Ocho Rios, Jamaica’s main tourist town, so it’s easy to get out and about. Dunn's River, one of the main attractions in Jamaica, is just ten minutes away and well worth a visit. I’m not sure that you’d want to eat out anywhere as Jamaica Inn probably has the best food in Ocho Rios, you really won’t want to leave! They do these really elaborate 5 course dinners and they have a very old-school approach to hospitality.
Jamaica Inn is a great place for older couples as it’s not particularly active, everything tends to wind down around 11pm. However, because it’s so beautiful and tranquil, it's drawing more of a younger crowd these days and it's perfect for honeymooners who just want to chill out. If you’re keen to get away from it all, this is the perfect hotel."
