Amazing Barbados Events In 2017 You Have To Experience
The warm and friendly locals of Barbados just love to celebrate – any excuse for a party and dance. Throughout the year there are a whole host of amazing events and festivals to enjoy where the island comes alive, perfect for experiencing the happy way of life that is so infectious in the Caribbean.
World Flower Show – Flowers in Paradise (21 – 25 June 2017)
The 12th Annual World Flower Show in Barbados, ‘Flowers in Paradise’, is a spectacular display of colour, a delight for the senses, and showcases the talent of some of the most incredible floral artists from across the world. This is one of the most beautiful sights and the vibrant island of Barbados is even more awash with colour than usual. You can’t help but be enthralled by the intricate displays of exotic blooms, which are truly impressive works of art and design. For those wanting to learn more, there are lectures, demonstrations and a vendors’ market to enjoy throughout the week as well.
Crop Over (July – August 2017)
The most famous festival in Barbados and by far the most fun time of year to be there, this fabulous festival marks the end of the Sugar Cane Crop season and we think it’s worth the trip alone to experience the exciting party atmosphere, where the celebrations never seem to end. From indigenous arts and crafts displays to calypso and folk concerts, culminating in the most energetic and colourful procession at Grand Kadooment on the final night of the festivities, this is a once in a lifetime experience for all ages to enjoy. Everyone dons elaborate costumes as they make their way through the streets, with amazing fireworks lighting up the night, set against the picturesque backdrop of Brighton beach.
Barbados Food & Rum Festival (17 - 20 November 2017)
Foodies will delight at seeing some of the world’s top chefs descend on this vibrant island for a week of cooking demonstrations, tasting sessions and glamorous parties at the most indulgent festival imaginable. The tall order is trying the extensive array of delectable and authentically Bajan treats on offer throughout the festival, washed down with the Bajan classic that is a strong and fruity rum punch, which islanders pride themselves on having mastered to perfection. We can think of no better accompaniment when watching the sun sinking into the Caribbean Sea from one of Barbados’ beautiful sandy beach. You’ll return home having tasted the very best of the Caribbean, and still wanting more!
