Sally Stileman our reservations manager recently returned from a trip to Le Guanahani on the gorgeous island of St. Barths. She absolutely loved her time there - here are her five reasons why it is the perfect family destination.
1. Children’s Club
This stunning hotel prides itself as being one of the few family friendly hotels in St Barths. Not only is it the only hotel on the island with a Children’s Club but it is also a pretty impressive one. Complimentary for children aged 2-6 years and open daily from 9am until 5pm, the club offers a taste of French culture with daily activities and interactive engagements. For those slightly more grown up kids, there is a complimentary Junior Clubs programme, featuring indoor and outdoor activities, and is offered daily from 9am until 5pm. Each of the ‘counselors’ as they call them, speak both French and English and are available for babysitting services too. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that children’s lunches are included as part of the complimentary experience, which is quite unique to the Caribbean. The club is constantly improving and for 2018, there will be a new outdoor area adding even more space for the little ones to enjoy.
2. Hotel Experiences
Le Guanahani has a vast programme of activities for all of the family to get involved with, from deep-sea fishing to submarine tours. There is even the option to fly over to Nevis for the day to visit the Vervet monkeys, play a spot of golf or explore the volcanic sands in lush surroundings. Le Guanahani really do think of everything for the little ones so they are never made to feel restless. The concierge team at the hotel is excellent and they will happily arrange a mini-cooper for you to explore the island with.
3. Interconnecting Room Options
There are many room types at this resort and it can be a bit of a mind field to know which option is best for your family but there are so many interconnecting rooms available and we can help you pick exactly the right room type for you. I loved the two-bedroom Beach House, set steps from the beach with a private terrace, tropical gardens and private Jacuzzi.
4. Wildlife
Le Guanhani is a nature reserve within itself. Established in 1996, the Réserve Naturelle Saint-Barthelemy marine park comprises 2,500 acres divided into five zones throughout the island. Le Guanahani is located within the reserves of Grand Cul-de-Sac, Marigot Bay and Marechal Beach. In this tropical landscape and coastal environment, protected flora and fauna can be observed including pelicans, iguanas, turtles, heron, Pic Boeuf and many more.
5. Beach Bliss
Le Guanhani is home to two beaches; one beach, is more rocky and not recommended for swimming but a lovely sandy beach to relax on and collect rocks together. The other, a beautiful sandy beach where the warm waters are crystal clear and the calm ocean waters are perfect for beach babies. There’s full service at the beach so you needn’t leave the sun loungers. Great for snorkelling you can regularly see sea turtles and colourful fish!
