Grenada is not just a beach destination, it is rich in history and places for you to really get under the skin of this enchanting island.
Fort George & Fort Frederick
A visit to Fort George and Fort Frederick will give you a glimpse of Grenada’s colourful past and offers the most beautiful panoramic views of St George’s, the capital of Grenada. St George’s is possibly the most picturesque harbour in the Caribbean, horse-shoe shaped, surrounded by Georgian buildings overlooking the water and full of brightly coloured fishing boats.
Market Morning
To get a taste of how the locals live in St George’s we would highly recommend experiencing a typical Grenadian ‘Market Morning’ held every Saturday. Barter with stall holders for spices, handicrafts and local art and enjoy the vibrant Caribbean energy.
Rum Distilleries
To learn more about the history of the island, the Grenada National Museum and Parliament House are also well worth a visit, but for something a little different, spend some time discovering the heritage and production of the islands favourite tipple, rum! There are many different distilleries, but we would highly recommend the Westerhall Rum Distillery and River Antoine Rum Distillery.
