Our Marketing Assistant, Juliet has just returned from a trip to the gorgeous island of Jamaica, where she stayed at the stylish boutique hotel Jamaica Inn.
When we arrived on the island, the first thing we noticed was the simply breathtaking scenery, with lush tropical greenery as far as the eye could see. We chose to visit the island of Jamaica for its gorgeous beaches, snorkelling, the culture and wildlife - and it did not disappoint! As soon as we arrived at Jamaica Inn, there was an air of tranquillity and calm about the hotel which made us instantly feel relaxed. As we checked in, the incredible staff welcomed us to our 'home away from home', presented us with a complimentary rum punch and showed us around the gorgeous hotel grounds.
Our room was beautiful; we were in a Premier Verandah Suite located right on the water's edge. What gave these rooms that 'wow' factor was the stunning spacious open-air living rooms on your own verandah, complete with your own dining table and sofas, it truly felt as if you were floating on the crystal clear ocean! The sense of privacy here was divine; many guests choose to have their breakfast served on their private balconies and it was clear to see why - the views were unparalleled.
As we wandered down to the powder-sand beach, we stopped by Teddy's Beach Bar for a 'Blue Jamaica' cocktail and chatted to the friendly bar staff. Kemar - one of the fantastic staff members here - was so welcoming and got us to join in a game of croquet on the beach which was so much fun. I wasn't quite up to the standards of the experts but they were great teachers!
The food at Jamaica Inn was simply the best I've had in the Caribbean and I've travelled round the many islands for quite a few years now. The plantain chips are exquisite and seafood was delightful - my favourite was the blackened sea bass with Caribbean vegetables, not to mention the delicious Mango Cosmopolitans - a must! At breakfast, you're presented with the freshest blue mountain coffee, pastries, fruit and more. I'd recommend the omelette with smoked Blue Malin for something a little different.
One of the most incredible experiences at Jamaica Inn was when a female turtle came over to the beach one evening and laid her eggs right under the sun lounger! The beach here has become a popular nesting ground for Hawksbill turtles. Every year from August to October, guests are able to witness baby turtles hatching and making their way to the sea! If you'd like to see the release of the baby turtles, then September is said to be the best month for guaranteed sightings.
Staying at this exquisite hotel was an absolute delight. The hotel is evidently beautiful, but it's truly the staff here who make your stay extra special. It's certainly topped my list of favourite hotels in the Caribbean!
