Although its history dates back to 1687, there’s nothing out-dated or old fashioned about this former plantation house. You’ll stay in chic, modern accommodation and enjoy superb, innovative cuisine at the hotel’s three restaurants. All 19 air-conditioned rooms and suites are individually decorated in a modern plantation style and boast sumptuous linens, private verandahs and panoramic views. Premier Rooms are set in cottage-style buildings in the gardens whilst the larger Plantation Rooms feature vaulted ceilings, a spacious bathroom with walk-in rain shower and ocean views. The Garden Suite offers an additional living area as well as upgraded facilities such as a Nespresso coffee machine, iPod docking station and private outdoor gazebo with an over-sized sofa. Set apart from the main hotel, the two-bedroom Tamarind Villa is perfect for families.
The hotel has an excellent reputation for its cuisine. A range of dining options are on offer at three wonderful restaurants, including the stylish Restaurant 750 where pre-dinner drinks and canapés are served before dining on the terrace. Indigo offers more casual poolside dining for lunch and dinner, but the real pièce de résistance is the wonderful Mill Privée, a 300-year-old sugar mill which has been converted into a unique, intimate restaurant where you can enjoy a gourmet five-course tasting menu. Cooking demonstrations and classes are available and regular wine and rum tasting sessions are also on offer.
These include a large swimming pool, tennis court, mountain bikes, a library, TV/games room, yoga studio and a tranquil, open-air spa area overlooking the gardens and ocean. Complimentary WiFi is available throughout the property. Montpelier Beach is a 15-minute drive from the hotel and complimentary transport is available every day; a beach bar, snorkelling equipment, sun loungers and private cabanas are all provided on the beach and picnics can be arranged on request.
