Accommodation

The majority of the 401 rooms and suites are set beside the lagoons that dominate the property. All accommodation includes air conditioning, a king size or two double beds, flat screen TV, Bose radio and CD player, complimentary WiFi, tea/coffee making facilities, a luxurious bathroom and a furnished balcony or terrace. Fairmont Rooms are located in the Bambu Building close to the main facilities. Casitas are set in two-storey buildings overlooking the lagoons and mangroves; Signature Casita Suites are particularly spacious and offer a separate living area. Beach Area Casita Suites are set back from the beach and feature a private roof terrace with plunge pool and panoramic views of the resort, mangroves and ocean. Beachfront Casita Suites offer direct access to the beach and an oceanfront infinity plunge pool. Interconnecting rooms and suites are available for families.

Restaurants And Bars

The resort’s four restaurants are all superb. La Laguna offers a sumptuous breakfast buffet, à la carte lunch and dinner in a relaxed setting overlooking the lagoons. Tauro Steakhouse is inspired by the strength and mythology of the animal behind the name, elegantly combining Mexican ingredients with classic steakhouse techniques and recipes and features an in-house dry-aging program, raw bar, prime cuts, as well as a two-course all-inclusive menu option. Hix Bar & Lounge features an extensive spirits list, a modern twist on classic cocktails, and curated wines. The lounge also serves freshly rolled sushi and refreshing small plates. As the first impression for guests upon arrival, it’s the perfect place to stop for a quick bite upon check-in or congregate in the evening for desserts and digestifs.

There are five swimming pools (including one for adults only and a kids’ pool with waterslide), a state-of-the-art gym, tennis courts and watersports including paddleboarding and kayaking. Named after its ever-changing landscape, the challenging 18-hole Greg Norman designed El Camaleon golf course bends through tropical jungles, dense mangroves and oceanfront stretches of sand. The fabulous Willow Stream Spa has twenty treatment rooms, steam and sauna rooms and two rooftop mineral pools; treatments are inspired by ancient Mayan techniques and use local herbs and essential oils. The superb Discovery Club offers supervised activities for children aged 5-11 yrs and complimentary WiFi is available in all guest rooms and public areas.

Responsible Travel

Fairmont Mayakoba was designed with environmental conservation and sustainability in mind, and is Rainforest Alliance verified. Projects include Flor de Tajonal , a bee conservation programme, and the hotel also works with a community-based Mayan tour operator to protect environmental and cultural heritage inside the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. The hospitality was outstanding, wonderful meals!

The rooms were very spacious and overlooked the lagoon which was great. Mine was on the upper floor so had a beautiful big balcony where I would sit each morning – great way to start the day. The food at the hotel was fantastic. On the first night aster a long day travelling , I had one of the best steaks I have ever had. The pool areas were very impressive. The beach is wonderful.
