There’s a profusion of activities at Long Beach, with a weekly programme of free sports, including aquagym, badminton, yoga and Zumba, and classes as diverse as painting, pastry making and DJing. Floodlit tennis courts, a fitness centre with steam room, climbing wall and just about every watersport under the sun, including diving, waterskiing, parasailing and windsurfing continue the active theme. For a change of pace, head to the lovely Cinq Mondes Spa, an oasis of calm, with 12 treatment rooms, an outdoor pavilion, traditional Hammam and Turkish baths. Three swimming pools include a serene adults-only pool, with big soft loungers looking out to the ocean, and a huge free-form pool, which wraps around Tides Bar and has plenty of loungers and shaded day beds. The Angels by Sun Kids’ Club (2–11 yrs) has a further children’s pool and offers a great range of activities, while Waves Teens’ Club (12–17 yrs) boasts a disco, cyber café and a range of adventurous excursions.
